Newfoundlands, are massive in size. They are great in size and weight.
Newfies were bred to be gentle creatures. You often hear the term "Gentle Giant" when referring to this breed.
Newfies are smart, very smart, extremely alert and are wonderful around children.
Newfies are well known for there love of water. They can swim well, due to there webbed toes.
The love of the water for this great breed, goes beyond the love of the swim. They are such great swimmers, that this breed has been known to save hundreds of people drowning in the deep oceans.
Newfoundland's are big in size, and need great care. They need much room to run and exercise. If you don't have time to take care of such a breed, I advise you to think of another breed of dog.
Newfoundland's do shed and need care with brushing. Otherwise, mats will form and irritate there skin.
Feeding this breed is something else to consider.
Check your puppy large breed, dog food, for accurate dog feeding times and amount.
Newfoundlands are a wonderful breed, if you have the time. They are loyal and loving!!!!
